Each year through its Retailer of the Year Award for
Leadership (ROYAL), the Florida Retail Federation recognizes a few of
the state’s many outstanding retailers who have demonstrated a
blend of sound business practices with commitments to their communities,
customers and employees. The ROYAL is given to individual retailers- not
to their businesses, although the success of the business in which the
ROYAL candidate is engaged will be considered. The three ROYAL award
categories, however, are based on the nominee’s current
company’s annual sales volume: less than $1 million, $1 to $10
million, and more than $10 million.
The 2010 ROYAL recipients will be honored during a
luncheon held in conjunction with the University of Florida’s
annual “Retailing Smarter” symposium in Orlando, Florida, on
Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate.
In addition, each ROYAL winner will receive:
|
- an attractive beveled glass and granite ROYAL trophy;
- local and statewide recognition;
- complimentary registration to the “Retailing Smarter”
symposium;
- complimentary hotel accommodations in regard to the awards
luncheon.

Since 1974, FRF has recognized excellence in law
enforcement through its Law Enforcement Officer of the Year (LEOY)
award. Through the decades, the LEOY designation has grown to be
acknowledged among Florida law enforcement as one of the most
prestigious honors in the state. The annual nomination process
usually begins each summer with nominations sought from police chiefs,
sheriffs, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Florida Highway
Patrol, and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. To
be eligible for the award, nominees must be officers up to and
including the rank of sergeant. The LEOY recipient receives a
substantial cash award and a personalized plaque during FRF's annual
awards banquet. LEOY’s time-tested campaign theme,"Often taken for
granted, they never stop serving...because they care," remains as
relevant today as when LEOY was first introduced. For more information
about the LEOY program, please contact Brenda Grindstaff at FRFAwards@frf.org or

Acknowledging the significant contributions State
Attorneys and their staffs make to Florida’s retail industry, the
Florida Retail Federation (FRF) founded the Florida Retail Federation
Assistant State Attorney award in 2006. Each Florida State Attorney is
encouraged to nominate one of their top assistant state attorneys from
their judicial circuit for consideration for this award. Since the focus
is retailing, it is hoped that the candidate would have an outstanding
record in solving and prosecuting the types of crimes that impact
retailers. Examples of such crimes include but are not limited to issues
related to worthless checks, identity theft, retail theft,
transportation and commerce in general. The recipient is then honored
during the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association awards
dinner. Please click here to learn about past recipients.

The Florida Retail Federation honors one of its own
with the Lifetime Service Award. This award is for dedicated service to
the retail industry and to the Florida Retail Federation. Historically,
it has been awarded to a member of the FRF Board of Directors who has
served faithfully for a long period of time. Past recipients have been
on the Board for over 20 years and for over 45 years. FRF is proud to
recognize the hard work and commitment of these individuals through its
Lifetime Service Award.

FRF's Legislator of the Year Award for Leadership
(LOYAL) is given to an individual member of the Florida Legislature for
distinguished service. The Legislator is chosen for their specific
efforts on behalf of the retail industry, support for the free
enterprise system, and effective leadership in general.

The Florida Retail Federation honored its inaugural
group of Florida Centennial Retailers on Monday, January 24, 2005, on
the Florida State University campus in Tallahassee. This and other
events were held in cooperation with Florida State University’s
(FSU) College of Human Sciences, Department of Textiles and Consumer
Sciences, to honor these outstanding professionals who have contributed
so much to our state over the past 100 years.
“Retailers are constantly challenged to meet
the demands of an ever-changing, dynamic market place,” says FRF
President and CEO Richard A. McAllister. “It is particularly
fitting to celebrate the accomplishments of those businesses who have
endured the dramatic changes experienced throughout the past
century.”
Each business received an attractive bronze cast
plaque to place on the outside of their business, noting their
prestigious distinction as a Florida Centennial Retailer, and a plaque
to display inside. While in Tallahassee, the retailers were also hosted
to a breakfast at the Florida Retail Federation office, took tours of
the old and new Capitol buildings and met with Governor Jeb Bush.
